Biblical Themes to look for during the movie

I. Train Station/Ruins The kids discover that they’re in their castle, but that 1300 years have elapsed in Narnia since their last visit. a. Our sense of time is out of whack. What we think is important doesn’t last. b. “Do not store up for yourselves…..” Matthew 6: 19-21 c. “With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day.” 2 Peter 3:8

II. Seeing Aslan At first, only Lucy sees Aslan. Susan says, “I’d like to believe he was here, Lucy. But Trunkins’s way just makes more sense.” Later Susan asks, “Why do you think I didn’t see Aslan?” Lucy says, “I don’t know. Maybe you didn’t really want to.” Susan thinks for a moment and says, “You always knew you’d be coming back here, didn’t you?” Lucy says, “I hoped so.” Susan says, “I’d finally just got used to the idea of being in England.” a. “But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ.” Phillipians 3:20 b. “Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinful men so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.” Hebrews 12:2-3.

Later in the film — when the battle seems to be lost, Peter is standing at the foot of the shattered stone table, remorseful. Lucy steps up beside him, sympathetic. Peter says, “You’re lucky, you know —- To have seen him, I wish he’d just given me some sort of proof.” Lucy looks from Peter to the cracked table and says, “Maybe we’re the ones who need to prove ourselves to him.” a. “….if they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be convinced even if someone rises from the dead.” Luke 16:31 There are a great deal of other things to look for, but I am going to let you find them for yourself. Come and join us at this great movie.
