Realize I’m not God; I admit I’m powerless to control my tendency to do the wrong thing and my life is unmanageable.
Step 2:
Earnestly believe that God Exists, that I Matter to him, and that he has the _Power to help me recover.
“And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.” Hebrews 11:6 NIV
Three Parts
1. ACKNOWLEDGE GOD’S EXISTENCE.
For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse. Romans 1:20 NIV
2. UNDERSTAND GOD’S __CHARACTER_.
He (Jesus) is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. Colossians 1:15 NIV

God, you know what I have done wrong; I cannot hide my guilt from you. Psalms 69:5 NCV
• God CARES about my situation.

“But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8 NIV
• God can CHANGE me and my situation.
I pray also that you will have greater understanding in your heart so you will know the hope to which he has called us and that you will know how rich and glorious are the blessings God has promised his holy people. Ephesians 1:18 NCV
Jesus replied, “What is impossible with men is possible with God.” Luke 18:27 NIV
3. ACCEPT GOD’S OFFER TO HELP ME.
Because God is working in you to help you want to do and be able to do what pleases him. Philippians 2:13 NCV
God did not give us a spirit that makes us afraid but a spirit of power and love and self-control. 2 Timothy 1:7 NCV
